Early 2020, Aunt Karen was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive type of brain cancer. The depth and size of the tumor made it impossible to be removed completely. Knowing the result would be terminal, possibly 2-5 years, a happy and positive environment became the most important and she came to live with me in July. After successfully completing radiation and her first round of chemo, we were ready to start the chemo that she would continually have for her remaining days to keep the tumor from growing as aggressively as it would.
Unfortunately, that next round of chemo never happened as she began to have severe lung problems. Doctors advised that the lungs were deteriorating faster than the brain tumor was growing.
After several hard conversations, Aunt Karen made it very known that she did not want to continually go into the hospital and that she did not want life support.
With that in mind, it was decided we would bring her home on hospice. She is still having some good moments but they are coming fewer and I’m not sure how long she has left.
After months of me paying the expenses to have care for her and the quickness of these changes, it has been impossible to prepare for funeral costs that I do not have.
Any donations made that do not go towards the funeral and the caregiver will be donated in her name to help with research into this cancer.
Your donations are appreciated and your prayers are needed.
