Hi everyone, I am fundraising for men’s mental health and have set myself a huge challenge in an effort to raise as much awareness as possible to combat the illness . As we go into another lockdown, it is as important as ever that we support those around us to ensure we all stay as positive as we possibly can!
So why is men’s mental health such a big problem within the UK, especially in the current circumstances ?
Nearly 1 in 2 (45%) of men in the UK have said that they have struggled with their mental health in the last 6 months throughout Covid 19.
44% of men said that they feel they are missing out on chances to support their male friends with their mental health since the pandemic started.
These are a few of the many reasons why it is crucial that we do all we can to tackle the problem with men’s mental health and the lack of opportunities available for men in-particular to speak about the challenges they face.
In an effort to change this, I will be running 10km every day from 6th January to the 12th January within my home town of Portishead, North Somerset. All donations made from my runs will go towards the Men’s Mental Health Foundation (https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/a-to-z/m/men-and-mental-health
) whose mission is to help people understand, protect, and maintain theirs and others mental health.
A donation, no matter how much, would make me forever grateful as I try and do my bit in improving the overall well-being of men. Even the smallest donation would make the biggest difference in putting men’s mental health in a much more positive state than it was yesterday, or the day before. This is a huge challenge for me personally, but the bigger challenge is to protect the well-being of not just men, but everyone in life’s society during this though time.
Thank you so much.....and let’s get running!
