I am setting up this GoFundMe account for my best friend of 20 plus years, Mark Walker. Mark has been diagnosed with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH). Mark has always been there for me, I feel I need to be there for him while he is fighting CTEPH and help raise money for his medical expenses. Please take a few minutes to read about his story and his condition. I hope you will be able to help Mark in his time of need. Thank you all.

I am Mark Walker, a married father of three children; who has been diagnosed with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH). Basically, I has a lot of blood clots in the upper lobes of my lungs. They are not the typical clots that come from the legs and they do not dissolve and go away on their own. The heart and lungs have extra pressure on them trying to get blood past all these clots, hence the pulmonary hypertension. This is causing me to go into congestive heart failure. CTEPH can potentially be cured with a surgery called pulmonary thromboendartectomy, or PTE; which is only done at a 7 hospitals in the country. I am waiting on confirmation by the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, for the surgery. I and my wife, Tanja, hopefully will be making the trip to the Cleveland Clinic within the next month.
I am unable to work currently due to CTEPH. I am on continuous oxygen to lessen the stress on my lungs while breathing. My wife has just started with a new company and won't have any leave until November. She will need to take unpaid leave be able to accompany me to the Cleveland Clinic for my surgery. We have basic insurance; however it doesn't cover any travel expenses and the bare minimum medical expenses if any for the surgery.
I am asking for donations to cover the medical and travel expenses that will be incurred while at the Cleveland Clinic for my CTEPH surgery. Any money that may remain after the Cleveland expenses will be used to cover expenses incurred while I have been in the hospital and unable to work. We wouldn't normally ask others for financial help; however, these are extraordinary circumstances. We appreciate all donations you are able to give. We know you are giving from the heart, as would we if circumstances were reversed. Thank you all and God bless each of you.
