Sasha Michelle Curtis - Journey On
Donation protected
This is my sister Sasha Curtis, and this is her journey. First I would like to tell you about Sasha and who she is. Above all she is a mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Sasha has two children Morgan and Jeremy, she is married to her best friend Chad.
The reason for this campaign is to possible help this family with some of the ongoing expenses from her medical treatment. In May 2015 Sasha was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The doctors found several large nodules on her thyroid gland and took immediate action to remove the whole thyroid though surgery. This was a very quick process and Sasha had her surgery in June.
Recovery went well as she followed up with more treatments and procedures to be sure the cancer was removed and had not spread. Although the relief and celebration of her recovery was short lived.
In November 2015 Sasha was not feeling well and finally went to the doctor. It was found that she was in complete kidney failure with very little answers as to what was causing it. She remained in the hospital through the Thanksgiving holiday. Her kidney function was improving very slowly and she was released to return home to hopefully continue improving the function of her kidneys.
Currently Sasha is still facing many issues. She still does not have full kidney function, her body has trouble keeping different levels in balance and most recently she has been diagnosed with Uveitis. In short Uveitis is an eye inflammation disorder that could lead permanent vision loss. Currently she is seeing several doctors to try to resolve all of these issues with no luck. Her doctors have referred her to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Hopefully there she will be able to determine if there is an underlying autoimmune disorder or some other issue that is causing her body to not heal.
Sasha works at the Rapid City Regional Hospital, fortunately. Although, there are many expenses that insurance will not cover along with travel expenses for her to Minnesota and back. Sasha and Chad both work extremely hard. Chad continued work as much as possible during all of Sasha’s health concerns, and Sasha went back to work shortly after leaving the hospital. Their family has had many struggles over the last year and they have met them with impressive determination and resilience.
If you asked anyone about the character of Sasha and Chad they would all agree that it is great. Sasha is one of the kindest most generous people ever. One of her best qualities is her happy heart and smile. No matter the situation she continues on and keeps a good positive attitude. I am blown away by her strength and ability to still laugh and joke in tough situations, when the majority of people might just give up she does not. I have watched her faith and appreciation for life grow immensely. When we are in the valley of life it is there that we are molded into the people we are meant to be. Sasha is an amazing example of this, she is coming through a different beautiful person. Yet she still has a ways to go.
So in conclusion, I would ask if you could to please help. If we could lift some burden from this family so they can focus on Sasha getting better I believe it would be a great help. Now is the time to help a person who has given so much, and now is our time to help her with her journey onward. Thank You.
