We feel we have been called to create this page for our beautiful friend Michelle Jones, in order to lighten the financial burden of her journey ahead.
Our paths crossed with Michelle back in 2013. At that time, we had no idea that we would be meeting a woman that would become part of our family. We have spent many holiday's together, taken road trips, and spent countless nights staying up late and laughing until our faces hurt. She was present for the birth of our daughter Carmina, who calls her Aunt Mimi and loves her very much. During this time, we have been blessed to witness her kindness and giving heart. She has given herself, time and time again for us and countless others. She is the kindest and most compassionate person that we have ever met. Her beautiful smile and big hugs make any day brighter.
The three of us became so close that in January 2016 we began looking for a home where we could all live together. We found the perfect one!! And it just so happened that it is on Blessed Lane! Around this time, Michelle began having pain and discomfort in different areas of her body. At first we all assumed that it was due to heavy lifting during the move, but it progressively got worse. On April 27th, Michelle underwent an MRI with hopes of finding the cause of the pain she was having. It was discovered that she had lesions on several of her bones, a mass on her kidney and rib, as well as a fractured spine.
Michelle has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. This is a form of blood cancer that attacks bone marrow and can be present anywhere that bone is found. It is a treatable but not curable cancer. After a succesful surgery to repair her spine, Michelle began her fight to gain strength in preperation for radiation and chemotherapy. She just completed her radiation therapy and will begin chemotherapy on June 16th. Michelle's unshakable faith has enabled her to hold her head high and continue to be a blessing in all of our lives. Not one time has she said "why me?" or "why is this happening?" She has experienced an outpouring of love from family, friends, her ACTS sisters, the AA community, and her co-workers.
Although we are saddened by all that has happened we find comfort in knowing that Jesus has her in the palm of His hand.
Over the last several weeks medical bills have started arriving. We know that this is something that can be quite overwhelming considering what Michelle has ahead of her.
If Michelle has been a blessing in your life, we ask that you find it in your heart to help in any way that you can. It is now time for us to give selflessly to her as she has done for all of us.
