My name is Makayla Turner, and I am using this as a fundraising tool to help fund a trip to Washington D.C. for the presidential inauguration in 2017. I first learned about this trip during my A.P. U.S. History Class, and I have been planning for it ever since. For those who know me, I am usually not one to create a funding account such as this, but I knew it was going to be one of the best ways to reach people of the community.
A little bit about me, so you know who you're donating to: I am a upcoming junior at Cabot High School. I am a member of NHS and A.P. Academy, along with other clubs at the high school. I work as a waitress at Waffle House, and anyone who works with me can you tell you I am a hard-worker who has talked about nothing other than this trip for the past two or three weeks!
The program is $2700, however, I am doing car washes on Saturdays at the Waffle House on W. Main Street in Cabot, Arkansas, and I have raised a little over $200 through that. The cost of the program is the amount that it is, because it a week long trip, filled with acitivites, including visiting the presidential and war memorials, Capitol Hill, where we are able to meet with the Arkansas representatives in Congress, experience the inaugural parade and ball, and many more. This program is almost like a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all involved due to the acitivies we, as highschoolers, are getting the chance to do in a week. It truly is a great opportunity, and I am extrmemly excited to be able to have the chance to do this.
However, it all comes down to the cost. As all programs do, there is a $600 deposit fee due on June 30th, which isn't far away from today. Once the deposit fee has been paid, you have until September 22nd to pay the rest of the money of the trip.
I have set the goal for the original program amount, because I would absolutely love to be able to donate the rest of the money to help others who also plan on attending this program with me! It would be amazing if I could help other students be able to join me on this trip.
I am very excited for this trip, and I am thankful for any and all donations. Every penny counts to me, and it would truly mean the world if I had the chance to go, despite who wins the presidency.
