Help Lauren Chase Her Boxing Dreams
My Story
Hi, my name is Lauren May, and I'm asking for your support to help me achieve my goal of becoming a professional boxer.
Boxing has been my passion since I was 13 years old. What started as a love for the sport became my anchor through some of life's most challenging moments. My journey hasn't been easy, but it's taught me that with determination and the right support, dreams are possible.
The Challenge
When I was 16, my mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer and Lynch syndrome. Life changed overnight. I left school to become her full-time carer while also looking after my younger brother. We didn't have family support around us, and those years felt incredibly isolating. But I would do it all again in a heartbeat – my mum was my queen.
After two years, Mum survived bowel cancer, giving us hope for the future. Tragically, she was later diagnosed with stomach cancer and passed away on May 9th, 2024. Losing her was devastating, and I've since been diagnosed with Lynch syndrome myself.
Despite these challenges, I made my mum a promise before she passed away: I would follow my passions and never give up on my dreams.
My Boxing Journey
Thanks to the incredible support of Seamus Devlin, who has been there for me since the beginning, I've been able to pursue boxing. He helped manage everything and trained me when I needed it most. Though he's moved on to organizing events, his belief in me gave me the foundation I needed.
I recently completed my first training camp and won my first fight – a massive milestone that proved to me this dream is within reach. I'm currently training at Great Harwood Gym, preparing for my next fight on October 10th, and I'm hungry for more.
Why I Need Your Help
Currently, I work part-time while managing a mortgage and caring for my dogs. Every penny I earn goes toward essential expenses, making it difficult to fund my boxing training, equipment, and fight fees.
Your support will help me:
Pay for professional training sessions
Cover fight registration and travel costs
Purchase proper boxing equipment and gear
Focus more time on training while maintaining financial stability
My Mission Beyond Boxing
My mum established SAP UK, a suicide prevention charity that continues her legacy of helping others. While they've been supportive of me, I want to help support them rather than be dependent on them, as they struggle with funding themselves. Success in boxing would allow me to give back to causes that matter.
The Support Around Me
I'm blessed to have incredible people in my corner: a big shoutout to my older brother James who supports me and sponsors me as much as he can despite living out of town with his own seperate life, my best friend of five years who helped me care for Mum and encourages me daily, Seamus who believed in me from the start, and a growing network of supporters who see my potential.
My Promise to You
No one is promised tomorrow, and I refuse to let my circumstances define my limits. I want to prove to the world – and to myself – that dreams are achievable no matter where you come from or what obstacles you face.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings me closer to honoring my mum's memory and achieving something extraordinary. Your support isn't just funding my boxing journey – it's investing in a story of resilience, determination, and the power of community.
Sponsorship Opportunities
For local businesses looking to support my journey, I offer advertising opportunities that include:
Social media promotion across all my platforms
Logo placement and recognition at fight venues
Exposure to hundreds of spectators at each event
Association with an inspiring local success story
Together, we can turn this dream into reality.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer.
With gratitude and determination,
Lauren May
