Help Melanie Beat Cancer

Hi everyone I’m fundraising for my sister, Melanie Fieffe. Over the summer Melanie was diagnosed with a single tumor in one lymph node on her pelvis that was treated with radiation and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, in early December she was sick for several weeks with fevers and back and stomach aches. A CT scan showed multiple new, small lymph nodes had appeared in her pelvis. Five days later an MRI showed more lymph nodes had been affected and some had merged into a large 8x4 cm tumor. Melanie received the news no one wants to hear. Her cancer had progressed to stage 4. The presentation and type of cancer she has is very rare, and referred to as “cancer of an unknown primary”. Melanie’s treatment is expected to be 12 weeks of chemotherapy with possible radiation, but that will be determined at a later time. The treatment is 48 hour rounds of chemo every two weeks. The first round of chemotherapy significantly affected her in terms of side effects, strength and stamina. The most recent side effects include three blood clots that caused her doctor to postpone the procedure to have her IV port put in. Melanie started her dream job in October teaching sixth grade science, unfortunately her doctor has determined that it is best if she is out of work at least until mid-March. They will re-evaluate at that time. Melanie is positive and determined to beat cancer, but she faces up to six months of treatments and needs our help.
