I moved to the San Diego area in 1982 with my two children, and have been blessed with the addition of three wonderful grandchildren to share my life with. For over 17 years, I worked as a document control specialist for various construction firms and was able to purchase my first home in 2009. Life was great … till I lost my hearing in both ears.
In January of 2001, I lost my hearing in my right ear resulting in tinnitus. Fortunately, I was able to continue working till tragedy struck again in 2013 when I lost my hearing in my left ear. Needless to say, my doctors have not been able to determine or diagnose the reason for my hearing loss. I’ve been legally deaf in my right ear since 2001. The results of my hearing test in my left ear indicate a 90% loss, making it very difficult for me to communicate with anyone since I can no longer hear. My audiologist has recommended a hearing aid for my left ear which would help me hear sound but since I have very bad nerve damage in both ears, there is really no hope of ever regaining my hearing as it once was; and therefore, I can no longer work. Now, at 60 years of age, I live on disability benefits, which is barely enough to pay my mortgage, buy food and meet my monthly payments.
I am asking friends and family to please help me raise enough money in order to purchase a hearing aid in the amount of $3,000.
Any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
