Hello! I’m Doug Borntrager, a theatrical sound and video designer based in Cincinnati, Ohio. I regularly work with The Know Theatre of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Diogenes Theatre, and hundreds of artists and companies in my capacity as Production Manager for the Cincinnati Fringe. In creating my designs, I use a computer program called Isadora. Isadora is an award winning, interactive media presentation tool that allows you to quickly and easily harness the limitless potential of digital media and real-time interactivity.
I’ve been using Isadora for about ten years now, and it’s allowed me to create some pretty amazing designs. And yet, Isadora as a design tool is so powerful and expansive, I feel like I’m only scratching the surface. But now i have the chance to take my designs to the next level.
The Isadora Werkstatt Berlin 2016 runs July 27 through July 30. Organized by Isadora's creator Mark Coniglio and the TroikaTronix team, this will be the first ever international gathering for artists and designers who use the software in their creative practice.
Over four days Mark Coniglio, the TroikaTronix team and special guests will offer workshops, lectures and performances as opportunities for exchange and hands-on investigation. The Werkstatt is designed for every level of user, from beginner to expert, delving into both technical and creative opportunities.
The Isadora Creator Space will be open throughout the event as a place to share ideas with other Isadora users and prototype projects as the week progresses. Members of the TroikaTronix team will be on hand to assist and advise. Each evening we will gather for intermedia performances.
Over and above the technical aspects I’ll be discovering, I’ll also be able to meet and experiment with Isadora users from across the globe, novices and power users alike, from Germany, Austria Sweden, the UK, Italy, Greece, and even China. And of course, I’ll be spreading the gospel of Cincy Fringe while I’m there!
So, I’m asking you to help get me there. While the conference itself is remarkably inexpensive, travel is not. Airfare and lodging will be the major expense for this adventure, and of course, every little bit helps to offset the cost. Thank you so much for investing in this creative endeavor!
