Almost two years ago, I signed up to be a living kidney donor when my sweet friend discovered she could not be a donor for her son who needed a second kidney transplant. It is a decision that has opened my heart and soul and confirmed the idea that loving one another is indeed the most important rule in life.
    I didn't match, so I signed up to be a cross match with the hope that I could still be involved in helping him live. A month ago he received a kidney from another person that didn't require a cross donation. At that point, I decided to keep my name on the list at University Transplant Center in San Antonio as an altruistic donor. Whomever needed a kidney, I would donate. Two weeks ago, I received the call that I will be a part of a web - 4 donors and 4 recipients!
   The surgery will take place this month, and my husband and I will be be in San Antonio for 10 days with added expenses. I'm asking for your help, so I can help someone live.
   I live in a small town and work as elementary principal. I am blessed with family and friends that love me and support my decision to be a living donor. Life has been good to me,  and I feel fortunate to be able to help others.
