My name is Caitlyn Linden and I'm trying to ruck all over the United States to spread awareness for Veteran Suicide. On February 11, 2016, I lost an amazing man to suicide. He was 21 years old and his name was Joseph Michael Donohue. Although he suffered from PTSD, anxiety, and depression, you would have never known at first sight. Joe had a smile that could light up a room and a personality that could move mountains. He was hands down the most passionate person I knew. The love that we shared was unlike anything I have ever known before; losing him is unlike any pain I've ever experienced. At the end of the day, I'm not the only one pained by this loss. He left behind a loving lab named Trigger, a whole company of men (he was Infantry at Ft. Campbell), a multitude of friends, and a loving family in PA. Joe was about to be an uncle; his sister-in-law was a few months away from birth when Joe passed away. 
Joe is not the only one I walk for. I also carry a young Marine on my backpack and his name was Jared Tyler Mann. Jared leaves behind a loving and suppportive family as well as young daughter. Jared's family has been so supportive of me and have helped me deal with the loss of Joe. People have no idea what it feels like to lose someone to suicide until they actually do.
I want to ruck all over the United States so that I can meet others who know what this is like; I want to be their support system.
I want to spread awareness about veteran suicide. The statistic may be wrong but 22 has become a symbol. 22 has become recognized all over and no matter what, ONE loss to suicide is ONE TOO MANY.
One day I hope to help save someone else's "Joe" since I was unable to save my own.
I planned to just work to save the money to travel but it has become more expensive than I thought. I want to attend 22 rucks before the year is over. Any money that is left over at the end of the year will be donated to an organization to help reduce veteran suicide. Anything helps and thank you so much in advance!!
