Help the Looby Family!

Harold Looby, the father of Billy Looby, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 19th. Harold was the husband of Dolores Looby, who died in 2007 at the age of 61, after a bout with Lou Gherig's disease. Their children are Scott, of Davenport FL, William "Billy" of Brooklyn, and Marshall, also of Brooklyn. After his wife's death, Harold continued to care for both Billy and Marshall (his Down Syndrome son) in their Brooklyn apartment where they had moved shortly after their marriage. Scott takes care of his high school age son in Florida. Harold had served in the Air Force before working as a manager in a supermarket in Brooklyn. In the last year, Harold had had surgery on his leg, a surgery from which he never fully recovered. A weakened heart ultimately resulted in his death.



Both Harold and Dolores were from Vermont, and Dolores and a fourth Looby sibling - Kelly Anne - (who died at three years old), were buried there in a family plot. Harold's wish was that he be buried with his wife and daughter, so in May (after the spring thaw which allows new grave-digging), he will join them in their Rutland, Vermont cemetery.


Discovering that the cost of the funeral and burial would amount to roughly $13,000, several friends have decided to fundraise to help with these costs.
