Jeff Clymer family fund

Hi everyone, I’m fundraising for the Clymer family. On Saturday, December 5th, Jeff was eating dinner with Ashley and their 3 kids when Jeff reached for his head and was barely able to say his vision was off before becoming unconscious. After calling 911 and being rushed to Barnes hospital, the doctors determined that Jeff suffered a Bilateral Thalamic Stroke. This is a rare type of stroke that impacts cognition and wakefulness and also affects sensory, memory, and speech. Jeff was unable to be aroused for multiple days while in the Neuro ICU before he was moved to the Neuro Step Down Unit. It took over a week before Jeff was able to stay awake for more than 3-4 hours a day. As Jeff’s ability to stay awake increased his daily visits with Ashley kept him busy. With the help of Ashley, Jeff’s family and medical team, Jeff is able to recognize familiar faces, enjoy listening to U2 and play a mean game of tic-tac-toe.
Jeff was stable enough to transfer to the Neuro floor while he waited close to a week for a bed at an acute rehab hospital. Last Friday a bed opened up and he was able to transfer that night. Currently, Jeff is at The Rehabilitation Institute of St Louis where he has begun extensive therapy and his road to recovery.
An event like this is something no one is ever prepared for. I can’t imagine how the hospital bills will be and although insurance helps, it does not cover all the expenses related to hospitalization and months of rehabilitation. Even though Jeff is making “a miraculous progress at a miraculous pace,’ he still has many months of work ahead. I consider Ashley to be Wonder Woman, but with what has happened to Jeff while raising 3 young kids, it’s going to be hard to be a superhero. If you can, let’s help this amazing family while Jeff works on his recovery for independence and life back with his family.
