டாக்டர் வரதராஜா துரையராஜா அவர்கள் யாழ்ப்பாணப் பல்கலைக்கழக மருத்துவ பீடத்தின் பெருமைக்குரிய பழைய மாணவரும், மனிதநேயப் பணிக்காக உலகளவில் மதிக்கப்படும் மருத்துவரும் ஆவார்.

இலங்கையின் உள்நாட்டு போரின் இறுதிக்கட்டத்தில், மிக ஆபத்தான சூழ்நிலைகளிலும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பொதுமக்களுக்கு மருத்துவ சேவையாற்றியவர். தொடர்ச்சியான தாக்குதல்களுக்கிடையே தற்காலிக மருத்துவமனைகளில் காயமடைந்தவர்களுக்கு சிகிச்சையளித்து, மனிதாபிமான உதவிகளை ஒருங்கிணைத்து, பொதுமக்களின் துயரங்களை உலகிற்கு எடுத்துரைப்பதில் அயராது பணியாற்றினார். அவரது அர்ப்பணிப்பு, துணிவு மற்றும் மருத்துவ நெறிமுறைகளுக்கான பற்றுதல் உலகளவில் பாராட்டப்பட்டது.

மருத்துவராக மட்டுமல்லாது, மனித உரிமைகள், மனிதாபிமானப் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் போரால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களின் நலனுக்காகவும் அவர் தொடர்ந்து குரல் கொடுத்துள்ளார். அவரது சேவையால் எண்ணற்ற உயிர்கள் காப்பாற்றப்பட்டுள்ளன; பல குடும்பங்களுக்கு நம்பிக்கையின் ஒளியாக விளங்கியுள்ளார்.

இன்று, தனது வாழ்நாளை பிறருக்காக அர்ப்பணித்த டாக்டர் வரதராஜா அவர்கள், மிகவும் ஆபத்தான உடல்நிலை காரணமாக தீவிர சிகிச்சைப் பிரிவில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருகிறார். அவரின் உடல்நிலை கவலைக்கிடமாக இருப்பதுடன், குடும்பத்தினர் மிகுந்த மனவேதனையுடனும் சவால்களுடனும் இந்த காலத்தை எதிர்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.

அவரது நண்பர்கள், சக மருத்துவர்கள், பழைய மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் உலகெங்கும் வாழும் தமிழ் சமூக உறுப்பினர்கள் இணைந்து, இந்த கடினமான நேரத்தில் டாக்டர் வரதராஜா அவர்களுக்கும் அவரது குடும்பத்தினருக்கும் ஆதரவளிக்க முன்வந்துள்ளோம்.

திரட்டப்படும் நிதி, மருத்துவச் செலவுகள், நீண்டகால சிகிச்சைத் தேவைகள், குடும்ப ஆதரவு மற்றும் எதிர்பாராத செலவுகளை சமாளிக்க உதவியாக பயன்படுத்தப்படும்.

தன் வாழ்நாளை பிறரின் உயிரைக் காக்க அர்ப்பணித்த மனிதருக்கு, இன்று நாமே துணையாக நிற்க வேண்டிய நேரம் இது.

# Supporting Dr. Varatharajah Thurairajah

Dr. Varatharajah Thurairajah is a distinguished physician, humanitarian, and proud alumnus of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna.

During the final stages of the Sri Lankan civil war, he continued to provide medical care to thousands of civilians under extremely dangerous conditions. Working in makeshift hospitals amidst ongoing attacks, he treated the injured, coordinated humanitarian assistance, and helped bring the suffering of civilians to the attention of the international community. His dedication, courage, and commitment to medical ethics earned him worldwide respect and recognition.

Beyond his role as a physician, Dr. Thurairajah has been a strong advocate for human rights, humanitarian protection, and the welfare of communities affected by war. Through his service, countless lives have been touched, and he has been a source of hope and inspiration to many families.

Today, after dedicating his life to serving others, Dr. Thurairajah is facing a critical health crisis. He is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, and his condition remains serious. His family is navigating an incredibly difficult and emotional period filled with uncertainty and challenges.

Friends, fellow physicians, alumni, and members of the Tamil community around the world have come together to support Dr. Thurairajah and his family during this difficult time.

Funds raised will help support medical expenses, ongoing care needs, family support, and other unforeseen costs during this challenging journey.

For a man who devoted his life to saving the lives of others, now is the time for us to stand beside him.
