I'm following my heart on this one. I had to beg Rob to let me share.
Friendsgiving...we have a friend in need. This Thanksgiving, please consider a donation (of any amount) to our dear friend/brother-out-law) Rob! He has been fighting for his life this year and is now facing cancer. He could really use some support.
Rob Justesen has been a coach, trainer, mentor, and sponsor to many.
He is an Uncle, brother, and even father figure to some.
A companion, workmate, and friend to all...
and a husband to one.
He is one of the most loving and compassionate beings alive.
We would like to take a turn to holding him up while he might not be able to stand by himself.
This is his story:
"2018 has been a challenging year. The previous two years I had been working really hard with all of my time on the road in order to get Kyle through school. This was an exciting, yet trying time. Kyle was pursuing his dreams. We decided to make it official and get married. The wedding was both amazing and sad, we had an amazing outpour of support, yet it was evident to both of us that not everyone was ready to accept our relationship.
This is where I started to go downhill.
We had been looking forward to Kyle graduating and having a second income so I could get off the road, and pursue local work, but as soon as Kyle started to get into the swing of cutting hair, I ended up in the hospital.
I had notice a number of physical signs, and lost a lot of weight. I randomly was bit by a spider one day, thinking it wasn’t a big deal I went to bed, the next morning it had erupted into a huge swollen and extremely painful mound on my leg, so we went into the doctor, who sent me down to the emergency room immediately. They found I had an extreme case of MRSA that hadn’t produced outward signs other than losing 70 lbs.
Once they got testing they realized I also had contracted upwards of 3 opportunistic infections, one of which crossed the blood/brain barrier and into my brain and spine. My immune system had been devastated, and reportedly was within 48 hours of not surviving (my white blood cell count was 17, normal is 1,500 and under 200 is considered potentially fatal) I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and another 2 in bed with a medical devise and a needle in my vein pumping meds in constantly.
This whole ordeal really took its toll on me, I had to stop working, and was put on restrictions until my body and immune system was able to manage on its own which could take up to 6+ months, this took its financial tole as well. Kyle was working and had an income, but it takes time to build clients.
So, I used the savings I had to get us through but that wasn’t enough, we ended up losing our house in Missoula and having to move.
During all of this my back went out.
I wasn’t able to walk for over a month, and it has been an on going thing now for 5 months. I have made progress with the chiropractor visits I could afford, they were able to get me walking, but it is a struggle. My legs are always numb, and some times give out, and my arm does the same. There is no comfortable position to sleep, which makes daily life hard as I don’t get enough sleep. The concern is the infection had damaged my spine, I was finally able to get an MRI to find out what was going on, and as I got the results, which included the need for surgery, I noticed something was going on with my digestive system. I found it nearly impossible to go the bathroom, being extremely painful, and with the back issues impossible to strain. Despite the lack of money I headed in to have it checked out.
My doc not knowing what the problem was sent me to a specialist who was immediately concerned and scheduled me for a biopsy, it turns out I have a tumor that is cancerous and am about to embark upon either Chemo or Radiation therapy."
We love Rob and Kyle and any donation amount would be greatly appreciated.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and friends.
