My wonderful wife has been fighting one medical condition after another for over 12 years. The latest battle is her need for an Islet Cell Transplant. As her pancreas is not working, and she has a genetic condition that causes chronic and acute pancreatitis, they need to remove it, along with her spleen and duodenum. Our insurance will cover most of the medical bills, but the surgery needs to be done at the University of Minnesota and she will need to be there for 2-3 months after surgery. We also have to go up for a week for testing to make sure she is ok to have this procedure.  

Our Doctor is one of the best in his field.  He said that he cannot do the surgery.  That is why we are needing to go to The U of M, who is a leader in the field. We are needing to pay for the housing and transportation to and from MN. I figure we need to cover 3 months rent or long term Hotel costs and daily cab fair to and from the hospital for presurgery and followup appointments.  This is on top of the medical bills ( our out of pocket could be up to 10k)
