Hello!
My name is Sharif Zakout, and as a member of the Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), I will be linking up with the International Coalition for Human rights in the Philippines for an International Solidarity Mission (ISM) to be held in Davao, Philippines this July! (1 month!!)
....And I need YOUR support to get there!
During this ISM we seek to learn, understand and internalize the current conditions of the Filipin@ people by integrating with the most oppressed and exploited communities in the Philippines. Our delegation of over 30 from SF Bay Area will go to different regions of Mindanao to witness the displacement of the Lumad community from their ancestral domain, the threat on their land and indigenous schools.
As an active member of the Arab
community, this trip will help deepen my understanding of the struggles that our Filipin@ allies face. It will help build solidarity in the Philippines and as well as when I return to the Bay Area. Linking the connections between displacement in the Philippines and displacement in the Arab region, we can build a better foundation for solidarity when addressing global injustices.
Our communities have long been making these links. We are struggling against the same forces, our liberation is intertwined, and we are committed to fighting back against military occupation and global repression! Please consider helping me go on this journey to strengthen our collective work together in the Bay Area.
