After 26 years of unpaid queer and AIDS organizing working tirelessly as an activist, organizer, street fighter, mentor, and social justice icon, José de Marco is ready to retire at 66. He was awarded the Paul Robson Lifetime achievement award from Bread Roses Community Fund and the Philadelphia Gay News person of the year 2020. He has no retirement fund. However Jose has no IRA. No family trust. No savings. No money stuffed in the mattress. We, his family of choice, are rising to this occasion to raise funds that will start Jose off on a path to retirement with a modicum of housing and food security. We want to thank those that have contributed in the past. We have set a minimum goal of $25,000 and are counting on you to generously contribute. It's the least we can do to show Jose the love he has unflinchingly shown us and our communities with his inimitable force and his boundless love.
