My name is Wayan Pennicott and my wife (Tash Pennicott) and we are citizens of Jamaica living as residents in the United States of America. I am originally from St. Elizabeth, which is one of the areas most affected. We have several friends, family, and the community at large that are in urgent need of assistance.

Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica with devastating force, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Homes have been destroyed, families displaced, and the local economy severely impacted. People struggle to find whatever little resources they can to keep their families alive. We are reaching out to you for help in our recovery efforts.

Our beloved Jamaica has not only suffered millions of dollars' worth of damage to schools, hospitals, businesses, road infrastructures, electricity grids, and communication networks, but the very basic necessities of life such as food, clothing, and shelter for many are just gone in a matter of hours. What took some a lifetime to build has simply vanished into thin air.

The psychological impact on the community is profound, with many individuals and families facing trauma and uncertainty. Imagine not knowing where your next meal or cup of water is coming from.
