Hello, Friends and Family,
I come to all of you to help save a young mans life medically and economically. Victor (Villo) Manuel Moreno is currently in the hospital in intensive care after being Ran Over in a hit and run incident by a drunk driver. For those of you who do not know Villo, he is my brother in law from Corning, Ca and brother to Paulina Moreno. He was currently living in Mexico with his grandparents. As my wife (Paya), and I came to visit him and her family, this tragic incident occurred. We are all currently here in Mexico trying our hardest to cover the medical expenses, and staying strong as he is still in intensive care. Most of our savings has gone towards our trip to Mexico to see our family. We had a small window to see the family, and will most likely not be able to see them again for 4-8 years.
The Story:
The incident occurred 4 days into our 18 day trip. We were leaving to get something to eat that night. As we were leaving a man started driving erratically, and pursing us. We turned opposite directions of the erratic driver to avoid any conflict, but for reasons unknown, this man still pursued us. He would reverse and drive in front of us to promote a conflict. I then pulled over to let the man pass once more, as I would turn around and seek distance away from the man. For , I do not know the location well nor the people, and wanted to avoid any conflict. As I pulled over my brother In-Law sought to tell the man to leave us alone, and walk out of the car. His intention were to tell the man we aren't from here and are looking for no trouble. Before he was even completely out the door , the man accelerated and plowed into him. We all stopped and went directly to Villo. I held him and his face was cut open, and knocked unconscious. The family screaming for help and calling for an ambulance. I stared down at Villo making sure he was still breathing, and wiping the blood off his face as his cousins and sister prayed for him not to die. The ambulance arrived, remember we are in Mexico so the response team were volunteers that seemed to have very little knowledge of what to do, and were barely older than 20. They then drove him to a private hospital called San Miguel Fray Juan Hospital. As we collect our thoughts outside, the doctors were doing god knows what inside. Here is where the situation becomes much worse. After 45 minutes, a person, what I can only assume is a nurse, says we can come see him. There are 4 doctors and 3 others standing around his still bleeding body telling us that Villo is in really bad shape, and that he has stopped breathing on his own. Also they had staples placed on his face while a nurse pumped oxygen into him. Villo would move, and seemed responsive. The doctors then continued on saying that before they can do anything they need to secure payment, or they would transfer him, and that in his state he would most likely not make it. My wife in a frantic state then said, “ Do what you must, but just save his life, I’ll pay whatever it takes.” The doctors still didn’t seemed convinced, and still stood there saying it would be a lot of money and needed to be in cash, 170,000 pesos ( nearly 18,000 dollars) to stay and be treated. After 15 minutes of arguing the cost, a nurse then told us to sign him to be transferred, “and when he dies it on your hands young lady.” The cost before they transferred him were then 28,000 pesos( 1,500) dollars. Villo’s grandmother grab her ENTIRE savings to pay 20,000 pesos with a promise to pay 8,000 more. This had to be done before they went anywhere with Villo. They gave her a piece of paper back saying nothing of what was done, nor a receipt of payment. Villo was then transferred by the ambulance, that charged an extra 500 pesos to move him. As we came to the new general hospital, the general hospital had no idea that the patient was being transferred there, and had no transfer order. We were told to (FUCK OFF) by administration, until one doctor said let him in. In the new hospital the doctors were shocked on what little had been done by Fray Juan, and had no papers on what treatments occurred. They secured Villo, and let us know everything was going to be fine. As Fray Juan returned us Villo’s property we noticed that they stole 7,000 pesos, and 300 dollars out of his wallet. His entire savings as as well. As you know we are in Mexico, and the “Law” has been no help what so ever. Those with money rule this state.
The Current Condition:
Villo is being treated, and we only know he is fine, but no diagnostic can be made before 72 hours. Only one family member can see him at a time in a small room. All costs are out of pocket, we even have to buy medical supplies such as catheters, sponges, IV drip, diapers, etc. Not including the cost of care. Villo is going to live, and that's all that matters right now. We are trying to take action against Fray Juan Hospital, but after we can secure Villo, which is our main concern. That’s why we need your help for Villos health cost.
Help:
You as my friends and family, know that I have never came to anyone for help about nearly anything, and would do anything for anyone. This is the one time where I NEED you guys. I humbly come to all of you for some help. Whether it be praying, money, advice, or spreading the word on social media to your friends and family. Literally anything helps. The dollar is 18.5 pesos right now. Please do what you can. The cost of one night out from 40 people can secure a life.
