Micki’s Top Surgery

Hello world, my name is Micki and I’m a 22 year old transmasculine non-binary person. I’m asking for help in funding my outrageously expensive gender affirming surgery, which is a double mastectomy. I’ve daydreamed of a flat chest for the better part of my life – Since long before I even identified transness as a part of my identity, I have experienced chest dysphoria. I was just 12 years old when I started binding my chest. Ten years later, I experience pain in my ribcage from prolonged binder use and still, even with a binder on, I am very aware of my chest size and the disconnect between my physical vessel and my identity. It’s hard logging onto the Internet and trying to explain to people why I’m deserving of this surgery. I hate that it costs thousands of dollars, even with the help of insurance, and I wish with all of my heart that I could afford it without asking for help from my community – But I can’t. Anything helps. Even if I don’t fully reach my goal, every dollar goes towards alleviating the debt this surgery is going to put me in. It is so important to me that I’m willing to further my financial struggle in exchange for a body that feels aligned with who I am.
