As many of you know Travis had a ruptured aneurysm and stroke last Wednesday, 4/20/16, and is in the Neuro ICU. The hemorrhage was very large, they were able to coil the aneurysm and stop any further damage, however due to swelling they had to remove a large portion of his skull that they will put back in about 6 months. Travis has been intubated and probably will be for a little while. He is able to respond to commands such as squeeze my hand, thumbs up, wiggle your toes, etc. His right side is paralyzed for the most part, but he is having some sporadic feeling/movement. There is some concern that his speech may be affected but hopefully with rehab/therapy that will resolve.
To add more fuel to the fire, Travis also has a blood infection which has been cooking for approximately 9 months, causing him to have endocarditis (infectious growth on his heart valve). The infection is being treated with strong IV antibiotics which will hopefully get rid of the endocarditis. Once the infection has been cleared up the doctors will then be able to acess the functionality of his valve, which, incidentally, was replaced when he was a child.
Most likely Travis will be in the ICU for 3-4 weeks, then rehab for however long is needed.
Casey and myself have been friends with Travis and Lindsay for many years and we can't even begin to imagine what they must be going thru.
Anything that you are able to donate will be hugely appreciated, not only by myself and Casey, but by Travis and his family as well.
Travis is a fighter, he and his family need to focus on getting him better, nothing else, so let's help them out by taking some of the worry away!!
Thank you all for your help, love and prayers
