My sister and I received a phone call this morning from a police officer telling us that our father who served in Vietnam as Airbirn ranger was found on the floor of his assisted living facility non responsive , the worst news any child wants to hear, my father is 70 years old and had breathing problems since the war but he was so humble and knew that neither myself ( having 4 kids) and my sister ( having 5 kids) couldn't afford anything like this , I did start saving money for my 16 year olds college but I will use it and he already told me to if I needed it, our father was so humble ( crying) that he said time and time again he wouldn't mind being out in potters field because he wanted to be around people that where just like him, such a good hearted man would give you the shirt off his back , shoes off his feet, his grandchildren and one great grand daughter were his world , I would never ask anyone for help , but I can't put him in a plot with no name no place for all of us to visit , if you knew him you would be amazed at the wonderful personality and sense of humor he had, he's been through everything imaginable in life and always had a smile on his face , brush it off , he always told me to not cry when it's his time ( sorry daddy this is so hard) I can't get it out of my head that you were alone when God took you from us and I will never forgive myself for not calling you yesterday we never realize how important life is until we are faced with it so close, I can't even bring myself to come to the realization that he is gone , I'm praying this is a dream and someone will wake me up , we aren't asking for tons of money we just need a little help to send him off with the dignity and respect he deserves he was not only a hero in the war but also a hero to his small family ( it's just my sister our lil brother and me) my sister is a former FDNY paramedic that got hurt on the job and is on disability , and I am the only one working in my family and I live with my inlaws so I too live pay check to pay check , any amount that is donated would be greatly appreciated and put towards the funeral and cremation of a man that truly deserves so much more... Please help even a sorry is appreciated Daddy Robert Kaufmann I love you my life will never be the same today is truly the worst day of our lives I couldn't even tell the officer the name of a funeral home to send you to , Dear God please help us through this ...
