You've heard it said it's easier to give than receive. It's very hard to ask for help, but necessary at this time. I met my husband Terry on a Bahamian surf trip when I was 17 years old, we married five years later on the same island, and have been together ever since, living in St. Thomas and Puerto Rico. He developed an aggressive prostate cancer a few years ago, which has advanced to Stage IV and spread to his bones. He has already suffered painful fractures and collapsed vertebrae, which have left him unable to work, but he has survived much longer than predicted by his first urologist.
The oncologist started Terry on hormone deprivation drugs, with each one working for awhile, until the cancer outsmarted it. Terry has also tried numerous expensive natural therapies, including an infrared sauna, the Omega juicer, organic and natural foods, hundreds of dollars worth of vitamins and supplements monthly, and natural treatments from integrative doctors and chiropractors, which are not covered by insurance. We have appreciated all the advice of friends who have suggested various doctors and therapies, and we think they have prolonged his life along with all the people praying for him. He says God's superglue is keeping him together at this point!
After reading a book on top German cancer clinics, Terry realized that they are far ahead of the US in many cancer treatments. He felt led to go there and give it a try – maybe because he likes German cars so much! We have planned a trip to Dr. Herzog's Fachklinik, where Terry will receive a whole body hyperthermia treatment, which heats your body up as if you have a high fever and kills or weakens only the cancerous cells. If deemed necessary, a very low dose chemotherapy can be given at this point, to finish off the damaged cells. Hyperthermia is in clinical trials in the US, but has been used successfully in Germany for many years.
Terry will also receive therapies to support the immune system and detoxify, such as high dose infusions of antioxidants and vitamins, thymus peptides, magnetic field therapy, ozone and oxygen therapy, and physiotherapy. These treatments and the three week stay are very expensive, and will cost us our life savings. We found airline tickets at about half the going rate, which was an answer to prayer. A donation would be great, but we especially want your continued thoughts and prayers. Our hope is that Terry will be healed, be out of pain, and be able to surf once again!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Terry and Kathy Hall
