Help my mom get back on her feet after COVID-19
Donation protected
Hello everyone. On March 29th, my mother was rushed to the hospital for COVID-19. A week later, my father was also rushed to the hospital. While my father returned home in 2 weeks, beating the virus, the same could not be said for my mother. We didn’t know it then, but it was the beginning of a hellish journey. For more than 5 months, my mother remained at the hospital. She spent months in the ICU, doctors called her condition “grave” and we were repeatedly told to prepare for a funeral. I was rushed to the hospital 4 times during this, extremely dehydrated and weakened because I couldn’t keep food or water down. My mother was unable to speak for months as the ventilator fought to keep her alive. Before that, she was sedated for weeks and slept through my birthday and her own, it was the first year we were apart for them. By the grace of God and so much prayer, soon, her condition improved and she was sent to a rehabilitation center before finally returning home. Unfortunately, this disease took a toll on the mother I once had. She has lost almost 50 pounds and can longer do basic functions without assistance. She suffers from chronic pain that comes and goes, leaving her unsettled. She was once so lively, always going out with her friends and taking care of things, she was the best mother. My mother is the matriarch of our family and couldn’t even cook for us (something she finds joy in) for thanksgiving. My father, who is 10 years older and who now suffers from migraines (a lingering effect since he came home), is now the only one working as it’s completely out of the question for my mother. While I work, the help I provide doesn’t even scratch the surface. I decided to make this gofundme for my parents because I don’t know where else to turn. It breaks my heart to see them struggling everyday, trying to make ends meet. Though my father has healed, he’s in his 60s and the weight of carrying the full income is wearing him down. Also, he still hasn’t regained his strength from before getting covid. This money would be used to help bring them back into the clear, help with their current bills, daily expenses and lighten the load on my elderly father’s back. My mother worked most of her life taking care of people as a CNA, she devoted her existence to being a tool for the world. She was recently diagnosed with anxiety as this new stage in her life commenced and it would be naive of me to think that the financial problems weren’t a huge reason for this. Today, I’m asking that you donate however much you can to help my parents, especially my mother, who is emotionally distraught at her new condition and that she can’t financially provide for herself. We are so grateful for this platform and to everyone who donates whatever they can. Thank you
