28 Years of Service: Joey Needs Our Help Now

Story

Today is April 25th. In 60 days a local hero in the recovery community will lose the home that he made for himself and his family. I’ve known Joey for 13 years but long before I became clean and sober. He was working tirelessly to serve his community, opening his doors to addicts no matter what condition or where they came from. Whether they had gone through detox and we’re ready to change their livesor still had a needle hanging out of their arm, he opened his doors. If there wasn’t beds, he would open his couches to them. If there wasn’t couches he would make space on the floor and welcome them into his home. Over the span of 28 years he has sponsored hundreds and hundreds of men and spent every dime feeding and housing these men. He was of service in meetings and gave his life so that others could get clean and change their lives. After 20 years of running a clean and sober house, he retired was blessed with a beautiful wife and brought in a family of six, homeschooling his new daughter’s during Covid and finally having a family of his own. We as a community were so excited for him and his new family. The house they were renting was sold and they had a very short time to find a new home. Only a year ago they finally found a three bedroom in Grover Beach only to find out that they had to move again when their landlord claim bankruptcy and the house went into foreclosure… the bank offered them a really good deal, but they can’t afford the down payment. They have 60 days to come up with a down payment on the house or they will be unhomed. I believe in miracles and so I’m asking for help from the community. Every penny counts, but we are also asking for generous donations to make a dream come true and find some major donors or sponsors that will pledge a monthly donation to subsidize their mortgage payments if we actually see that miracle happen!!! they can afford 2200 a month and we believe that the mortgage payments would be 3300… It’s within reach but we need your help!
