28 Year Old's Road to Recovery From Brain Tumor
Donation protected
On Thursday evening my little sister went into the hospital for what we thought might be meningitis symptoms.
She couldnt move her neck Wednesday morning & had her scheduled to see a chiropractor in the next couple days thinking she may have pinched a nerve sleeping. As her symptoms got worse from Wednesday to Thursday afternoon, vomiting spells insued & it was decided that my mom would take her to Auburn Faith Hospital for testing.
After a cat scan at our local hospital, it was discovered that there was a golf ball sized tumor in her brain. Auburn's hospital didnt have the resouces for further testing so sent her by ambulance to Sutter Roseville & placed in ICU. The neurosurgeon wouldnt be in until Friday morning & couldnt give a full diagnosis until a MRI & CT scan were completed.
Friday morning after a CT Scan was reviewed, the neurosurgeon had a clearer view of her brain & said the tumor was not a golf ball size tumor like we were told. In fact it was a softball sized tumor on her left inner lobe behind her ear & neck. Because of the size further testing was done & at this point we have not found any reasons to believe its cancer but we wont know until surgery & pathology results are in.
Surgery will be planned for Monday & the neurosurgeons are planning the best course of action in the meantime. It will be a 10+ hour surgery & I know my sister is scared & still processing all that is happening so quickly to her.
With recovery we are still not sure entirely what life looks like after all of this but know brain surgery will be putting her out of at least a year of work if not longer. She was working at our local brewery & in the meantime helping homeschool her twin nieces on her days off & helping our mom at home with her recent back surgery just 3 weeks ago.
Everyone that knows Jenn see how positive of a person she is. She is a natural caretaker herself she has an infectious love of ALL animals. She stays active with spin, & hiking. She is a Art Institute Graduate with an BA in Interior Design & Graduate of Sacramento Ultrasound Institute. She was working towards her licensure of Echocardiogram Sonographer & working at the brewery in the meantime until a job position in her field opened up.
We are asking for help to offset medical expenses, & bills that will quickly be mounting & anything contributed is immensely appreciated. Our family is rallying together during this whirlwind of events and still in shock over her diagnosis & how quickly everything transpired.
For all those that have reached out, prayed, sent calls, texts, & warm wishes thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. It takes a village & we appreciate you all. We are so humbled & continue to pray for a full recovery of our sweet Jenn.
