Traumatic Brain Injury

They say to keep this message short, but that’s impossible when you are talking about my best friend, partner, and my husband. My husband Derek, has been suffering from traumatic brain injuries causing major cognitive and functional decline. So, I’ve started a GoFund me account to pay for a 10 days long intensive in-patient treatment. I would be beyond grateful to get my husband back to the person he use to be. These injuries over the years have made my husband unrecognizable as the person I married. He is unable to perform simple daily tasks, lost entire days of memories, and is losing his identity. He can’t eat without experiencing agony; he only weighs 135lbs at 6ft tall, and battles constant vertigo...his hands shake from just holding a fork. According to Specialists, he is going to hit another level of cognitive decline and degeneration soon meaning his body will start to rapidly fail him, resulting in loss of more motor functions and possibly worse debilitation. Anxiety and depression has taken over his life dealing with all the above. Anxiety and depression runs in his family meaning that once those wires have crossed, it’s harder to come back from any health burdens. It’s been a hellish burden for everyone this year, I can’t imagine what some people are going through. Derek has helped so many people in his career; he would spend 10-12 hours a day healing people who are dealing with their own health issues. He has sacrificed himself so much for his love for people’s health/happiness. We have exhausted so many medical treatments putting us into major debt. This treatment is all out of pocket and we spent all our money on past treatments, but didn’t get one inch closer to feeling better. Derek will be seeking treatment through a team of highly specialized Neurologists for diagnostics and specialized treatments for TBI, CT, Anxiety, and depression. We are deeply appreciative for any support you can offer. Today is Derek’s 36th birthday, and he wants to be able to celebrate future birthdays with his friends and loved ones.
