Teacher Fighting Stage 3 Cancer Needs Urgent Housing & Chemo Funding
A devoted teacher who dedicated her life to caring for other people's children is now facing a mother's worst nightmare. After losing her own children in a painful custody battle, she received a devastating diagnosis: Aggressive Stage 3 Cancer.
To make matters worse, upon learning of her illness, her landlords asked her to vacate the property. She is facing the fight of her life without her children, and as of January 1st, without a home.
The situation has escalated. New tests confirm the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. The medical team has had to change tactics immediately. She must begin aggressive chemotherapy and hormone therapy on January 5th to stop the spread before surgery can be performed.
Why we have raised the Goal to $ 35,000: The financial burden has tripled in the last week. To ensure transparency, here is exactly why we need your help to reach this new goal:
$9,000 for Uncovered Medical Costs: Despite Canada’s healthcare system, the required immunity and hormone injections are NOT covered:
- Despite Canada’s healthcare system, the required immunity and hormone injections are NOT covered. These cost between 1,400 and 1,600 per round.
- With a standard 6−month treatment plan, she faces a bill of 9,000 to receive her medicine.
$5,000 for Emergency Housing Setup: She must vacate her current room by New Year's Eve. While she has secured an apartment, she needs immediate funds for the first and last months' rent, plus moving costs, to get a roof over her head by January 1st.
$5,000 for a "Sterile" Environment Overhaul: The new chemotherapy regimen will leave her immune system severely compromised. Doctors have ordered a 360-degree change in her living environment:
- She must start from scratch to purchase a new bed, mattress, hypoallergenic household items, and specific clothing to create a sterile space where she can survive treatment without infection.
$16,000 for Basic Survival (Loss of Income): Her teaching contract has ended due to her illness. This portion of the fund will cover basic living expenses (food, utilities, transport to the hospital) for the next 6 months of recovery, ensuring she can focus on fighting cancer without the threat of starvation or debt.
Please, be the family she has lost. We are racing against the clock to get her settled by January 1st and to have her treatment paid for by January 5th.
Every dollar you donate goes directly to keeping a roof over her head and life-saving medicine in her veins!
