UPDATE : I am in a lot of hot water right now. I could not keep this attempt to raise funds a secret from the beneficiary of this fundraiser until I reached my goal. I guess I should have told her first, what I planned to do, so I am going to suspend this fundraiser but not before explaining that I have raised millions of dollars in my career for those in need, and to not reach out for someone I know and love just did not seem right. Tom and I wish we could take care of every last need for this woman and her two sons. We have done everything we can, including having them move into our home next week until they can get on their feet, but there are so many expenses that we just cannot help with at this time. In full disclosure, I am doing this for my sister. Very few people have lived the difficult life that she has over the years as a survivor of an automobile accident that left her with excruciating muscle and nerve damage, unable to hold any kind of objects in her hands, not to mention being a breast cancer survivor now for over two years, She has always been right there for everyone in ways that others were not and maintained the kindness and generosity shown to others despite what she has been through. SO I hope you understand why I did this. Thank you so much to those of you who contributed.
ORIGINAL POST: Thank you in advance for reading this. I am trying to help a woman and her two sons find a place to live after learning in the most inhumane way that their home had been sold out from under them at a county auction. Unbeknownst to them, the mortgage had been in default. The home had been in the ex-husband's name and as part of the divorce decree he was responsible for the mortgage which went unpaid. The eviction was scheduled for June 15, but in the meantime the ex-wife was to begin a new job on May 26 but unfortunately suffered torn ligaments in her leg and is now jobless so that left them unable to move into an apartment, virtually leaving them homeless. The $5,000 will help them to make car and insurance payments, along with keeping their cell phones working while they try to find jobs, find temporary living quarters and buy groceries. This woman has no idea that I am trying to do this for her. I understand that you must wonder why they are not pursuing the ex-husband. Well to compound everything else, he died but not before losing his own home and of course, there was no insurance.
I am not sure that she would want her name on Facebook or email but once I set up this account, hopefully she won't be able to say anything but thank you.
Please share this with your twitter, Facebook and Email accounts. God bless you. This what America is about.
