When I think to Dave I think of a person who is selfless, loving, hardworking and just all around an amazing human. Dave and his wife Raquel are two of my best friends. It was beautiful to see and be a part of their wedding this past September and watch them start their journey as husband and wife after many struggles. Surrounded by family and friends who continue to stand by them through good and bad. These two have had their share of lows.
Raquel having undergone heart surgery herself just before the wedding they thought health issues were going to be behind them. Just 2 months after their wedding Dave was diagnosed with testicular cancer and just before Christmas had surgery removing the tumor putting him out of work for over a month. After his time off they were encouraged by medical professionals to have Dave contribute to a sperm bank as precaution. Anyone who knows these two know that they eagerly await the time where they can start their family and wanted to make every precautionary effort to be able to do so even though cost of such things is high.
We thought the worst was behind us all and then just a few weeks ago we all learned that the cancer had returned in his lymphnodes. Dave was scheduled immediately to begin 9 weeks of chemotherapy. His second day of chemo he spent celebrating his 31st birthday with some amazing nurses who tried their best to make it an amazing one.
A great friend of ours said, " cheers to the last birthday you ever have cancer!"
My friends were very reluctant to begin this fund so here I am doing this for them. I am asking if you could see it in your hearts to please donate and help my dear friends with any bills and expenses they have and will continue to have. Any contributions made past what they need for bills will be donated to cancer research.
