Cancer Fund for Robin Hanson #Glioblastoma
Donation protected
June 13, 2022 my husband of 30 years, Robin, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, which is a stage 4 brain cancer that is uncurable and inoperable. He has four brain tumors and has recently finished his first round of intensive radiation and chemotherapy.
This diagnosis turned our entire lives upside down as soon as we got the news, and it has only continued to get more overwhelming. I, Julie Hanson, have become his full-time caregiver as well as working a full-time job trying to keep everything afloat. One of his doctors said it's the same as me working 3 full-time jobs. Being a caregiver is a 24/7 responsibility that I have undertaken. This cancer is aggressive, and the treatment is even more so. I've watched my husband become a completely different person within a matter of almost 2 months. His two great passions in life are playing his guitar and riding his motorcycle, which he has not done since the diagnosis. It's heartbreaking to see him not be able to do what he loves. He is typically an incredibly independent man (and stubborn at times), and as the cancer and treatment wreaks havoc on his brain, he needs help doing most everything. It's so disheartening to see him get frustrated when he can't do something he could usually do without even thinking about it.
Not only do the medical costs add up faster than I can imagine, but because of the effects on his brain, my living costs have also skyrocketed. Last week, he had accidentally drained our hot water tank entirely. My utility usage has gone up 45% since last month.
Every day is a new story, and I just can't believe how incredibly fast this is progressing, and how fast my husband and best friend is digressing.
This is the hardest thing I have ever gone through. I am not typically a woman to ask for help, usually finding answers in any problem that comes up, but this has come to a point where I've run out of answers. With this cancer, there's only so much I can do.
I've come to a point of seeking help for medical and living costs. This illness has devastated our entire family, and beyond. We have an incredible support system of family and friends behind us, and I'm so thankful for that. I'm now asking for support in a different way, as this has only become more cumbersome.
Any and all donations are so greatly appreciated from the bottom of my heart, and from the hearts of everyone who knows & loves Robin.
