Bud's Medical Bills

On April 18th we walked into the barn to see 4 extra legs in the stall. Bud had arrived. We had purchased his mom a month prior knowing that she was expecting. We had no idea when the day would be though.
Bud seemed like a normal baby to us since we had never had one before. On May 23rd I walked into the barn and he was laying flat and barely moving. That is when we knew that there was a problem. We contacted our local vetrinarian and he was started on an intramuscular antibiotic, for sepsis. His temperature continued to rise.
I spent hours in the barn with him holding him and letting him know that I was there to help him.
He did not respond to the anitbiotics so we had to come up with another plan. We started looking for someone that specialized in eqine. We called and told them his symptoms and they wanted him there right away. We packed him up (in the back of the car, on my lap) and drove him to the center.
After arriving, the vet placed the jugular line for fluids and antibiotics. His white blood count was 10 times highter than what it should have been. The vet suspected a septic liver abcess. The thought of euthanization crossed my mind and mentioned to the vet. His word were "He deserves a chance. He is just a baby."
We watched him for 2 days after receiving 4 different antibiotics , and he was becoming stronger. We decided to continue with the treatment. We ended up loading up his mom and reuniting them so that he could get his nutrients from her. She was so excited to see him.
After a week into it we had high hopes of Bud coming home and receiving oral anitbiotics. On the 10th day the progress report was not good- the vet had heard a murmur and his white blood count was rising again. After doing an ultrasound on the heart, the news was worse than we expected.....Bud had developed a vegetation (infection) on his mitral valve.
After talking to the vet he convinced me to continue with his treatment. The only other option was to put him down. The thought crossed my mind after thinking about the financial aspect of it ; but I have had many private messages and texts from people (even some out of state) asking how they can help. I really did not want it to come to this, but to give Bud a fighting chance we are reaching out.
Bud has been given a 50/50 chance at this point. He will start his new antibiotics for his heart infection tomorrow. Any extra funds that are received will be dotated to the equine center for another equine in need.
Thanks to everyone that has prayed and send their best wishes!
