Hi everyone, my name is Zedé Harut and I am writing this with the consent and behalf of my dear childhood and close friend, Zakkiyah. She recently went through a psychosis episode and is still battling the aftermath of it all. I ask you to help me get her the support to overcome this. If you know her, you know her heart is so unconditional and large for everyone. It's time she received it back during a really difficult time in her life. Below is her story:
"This past September I had a psychosis mental break down that caused me to be hospitalized. After this emotional and traumatic breakdown, I lost my housing from school, my college scholarship, my relationship with my family, and many friendships. I’ve been attending weekly therapy and have seen a psychiatrist to get initial medication. I got diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in October and have been on medication since November. I have been in and out of the hospital and psych ward several times since then, especially when my symptoms got severe and uncontrollable.
Right now I have relocated back home to try and heal this trauma so I can attend school again in the fall. I currently have nowhere else to go and I can’t afford any housing or reliable transportation. I need a stable place to live until I can figure out how to get permanent housing, a job, & transportation. I am looking for a place to live for me and my service animal dog Rodgers who has been my main support in all of this.
This is very hard for me to ask and come out about because if you know me, I am very private and never ask for support, but I need a lot of help right now and I also think it is important to be honest about the severity of mental health and how it impacts us, especially Black women.
