My friend, Lisa Cue, sustained an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in 2013 and was read "Last Rights"at the ER before being life flighted to another hospital for cardiac thorasic care. So subsequently she's been instructed not to lift more than 10 lbs and not to get her blood pressure above 120/70. Tall order!
As brave and stoic as she's been, she now lives with physical restrictions, chronic pain and no income potential in the near future. On April 18th, she tripped on an uneven sidewalk and broke both arms. The dominant (rt.) arm was badly broken with torn ligaments, and required a difficult surgery that day to repair the break with a plate, a pin and 9 screws. The left elbow was fractured, limiting her mobility as well as her ability for self care .
She has been declared unemployable by her doctor. and hasn't been able to work since July of 2013. As if the maddening lifestyle changes and daily pain now with two broken arms weren't enough, she needs to pay her bills! She is going to heal herself and reinvent herself, I have no doubt, but presently she's looking at a year down the road before she can regain whatever use of her right hand and wrist that is possible with physical therapy 3 days a week. She's managed to scrape by so far with the help of family and friends, but now she is needing to ask for help so she can stay in her home.
Lisa has embraced every new painful physical challange with grit and determination. Her spirit is strong. This little birdie is grounded right now and needs help until her wings mend and she can fly again.
