A new liver for baby Jax!
Donation protected
Jaxson Hillyer was born August 4, 2015 to my best frien Heather Hillyer. He has the best smile I've ever seen! In his 10 months he has touched so many lives with his story. This Go Fund Me is my effort to help Heather be able to care for Jaxson with less worry about bills and daily troubles.
Jaxson was born with Biliary Atresia and Alpha One Antitrysin Deficiency.
Biliary atresia is a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants. Symptoms of the disease appear or develop about two to eight weeks after birth.
Cells within the liver produce liquid called bile. Bile helps to digest fat. It also carries waste products from the liver to the intestines for excretion.
This network of channels and ducts is called the biliary system. When the biliary system is working the way it should, it lets the bile drain from the liver into the intestines.
Alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency is a condition in which the body does not make enough of a protein that protects the lungs and liver from damage. The condition can lead to emphysema and liver disease.
Being born with one of these conditions is rare but both is unheard of. Jaxson is at the point in his diseases where he is in need of a liver transplant. He is being treated at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. The hospital is more than
hours away from Heather's home. She has stayed by his side. Her parents are caring for her other children at her home.
While away Heather is still responsible for paying her bills and supporting her family meanwhile she is unable to work. The expenses of staying in Detroit add up as well. Food and parking alone are expensive.
Please consider donating anything you are able to in oder to make her life a bit easier while they work to make this little man healthy.
