Friends. I have a student in need. Her story
touched my heart and I'm planning to help her and her family. I would
like to give you the opportunity to help as well. This student has 2
semester left before graduation. She lives in a car with her Mom, Dad
and sister. A series of unfortunate events caused them to lose jobs,
house and stability. All of their possessions are in a storage locker in
North Hollywood (someone had promised them a house in that area so they
left Riverside to take advantage of that and it never materialized).
This student comes to campus twice a week by way of train and bus (apx.
$20 for transportation per day). They also put a $600 mechanic bill on
their credit card because the transmission went out on the car. A week
after being repaired, the car shot craps. They now stay in a borrowed
pick up truck. Please pray for this family.
I am planning to put money on her bus pass (it's a card that she can swipe to ride the train and bus). I have been able to provide the book and some other class materials/supplies for the course she is taking with me. I was also able to get her a laptop from the library for the semester. I plan to tell her that any financial help she gets is coming from other people so I don't have to feel any ethical issues with this situation. That said, if you would like to contribute anything, have a job to offer these people, have a housing solution or anything else you can think of...please contact me.
Trust me, I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't believe that her story is true and that her cause is worthy.
