Pls Help Miracle Man Jack Orange

Donation protected
Against all odds Jack Orange survived, after suffering a devastating brainstem stroke about 8 years ago. He was quoted as "The Miracle Man" by the Vancouver Sun. http://www.vancouversun.com/health/empoweredhealth/Miracle+recovers+from+stroke/6301480/story.html Initially, he was “locked in” and could only blink to communicate. Jack was a Veterinarian working in the interior of BC prior to this life changing stroke that immediately displaced Jack and Hilda from their home community. Jack is a graduate from the University of Guelph (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.) He is also a graduate of The University of Windsor and had been inducted into their Sports Hall of fame for basketball. They won the CIAU Championships in 1969/70 . Jack was an amazing athlete. Jack also graduated from The University of Western Ontario with a Master’s degree in Anatomy and played on the basketball team there. He has gone through years of rehabilitation and alternative/innovative health care and continues to improve however, Jack’s condition is medically complex, requiring 24/7 care. With the help of his dedicated wife Hilda and a huge support team he is now able to live at home and continues to work on independence goals. Despite the enormous challenges and struggles along the way, Jack is able to drive a power wheelchair and has learned to speak again. He has an amazing sense of humour, hopefulness and determination. He is quite an inspiration and a role model of hope for students young and old! He attributes his perseverance, determination and positive outlook to his involvement in sports and being a team player. He is looking forward to meeting the young basketball players at KSS and Ballenas Secondary School as Jack tosses the ball for the centre jump at the community highschool in Qualicum Beach.
Jack is a very private and proud man. Up until this point, they have never requested financial help from their community, but the continued expenses for rehab equipment, therapies and medical supplies continue to be a huge challenge. Jack needs a new power wheelchair to continue to support his independence and to engage with his new community. If you see Jack in your travels in the Oceanside area on Vancouver Island, please stop and say hello! Thank you in advance for your support and generous donations. Any support whether it be financial, emotional, spiritual or helpful information is most welcome. It truly means more to them than you know. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
