For those of you who don’t know, we have had some unforeseen challenges impact our family and could use your help. On May 16, Krystal Link had surgery to remove her gall bladder and appendix. She’d been dealing with stomach issues for a long time and experienced increased pain during her pregnancy. After Chase was born in March, she sought additional medical treatment and they began further investigating the cause. When the pains worsened, doctors recommended surgery. While removing the gall bladder and appendix, doctors noticed the appearance of an infection and suspected cancer. Biopsies confirmed cancer in her appendix and identified three additional spots of cancer.
It’s pretty rare for a 29-year-old to develop this type of cancer. Thus, Krystal was referred to MD Anderson in Houston—a global leader in treating stomach cancer.
This weekend, Krystal, Lance and the boys will begin the road to recovery by traveling to Texas for treatment. Krystal’s parents will watch the boys when she goes to her first appointment on Monday, June 6. She will undergo a series of tests and they will design a treatment plan best suited for her. At this point, we don’t know how long she will need to be in Houston for treatment.
Krystal is committed to beating this and is ready to fight her way into recovery. And we are behind her 100 percent! One of the ways we could help her fight is by easing the financial burden that she and my brother, Lance, are going to endure. It’s a lot for a young family to take on with both the medical bills and the travel expenses they will incur.
Don’t feel that you have to donate but if you’re able to contribute we would be extremely grateful. We would equally appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement during this challenging time. Thanks to all of you who’ve reached out already and offered to help!
We appreciate your support and please keep Krystal, Lance, Parson and Chase in your thoughts and prayers!
Thanks again!
