Hi Everyone !
As you may or may not know, my sister, Echo had a bit of an accident while visiting her friend, Kristi in California. She was operating a motorized bicycle when the handlebars locked up and.. Well... She broke her tibia right at the knee joint !
She took an ambulance ride and well the horrible hospitals in California decided not to operate and sent her on her way. She traveled back to Wisconsin in extreme pain that no pain medication could remedy. She had to wait weeks to get in for surgery and what could've been endoscopic turned out to be an insane surgical operation !
Her surgery took place on November 11th and today (Nov. 30) was her follow-up to remove the 23 stitches and discuss PT and further healing time.
Also, just so you know, she has just accepted a Director's Position at a school the week prior; she didn't even make her 1st day. This is what makes things difficult - she now has no income and is not eligible for benefits such as Short-term / Long-term Disability or FMLA.
I've exhausted every last vacation day of mine driving to/from Bristol, WI (west of Kenosha) to care for her since she has no real help. She is wheelchair bound and cannot bear weight for at least another 8 weeks. She cannot drive nor do anything she could before (play with the kids, walk her dog, clean her house, etc).
I am grateful it wasn't any worse and pray she heals a bit quicker than the Dr's say, but until then, I am asking for your help in gathering funds so she can pay her rent, utilities, and provide some sort of Christmas for her children, Trinity (Age 7) and Tristan (Age 3).
