Sherry’s Breast Cancer Battle

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I'm fundraising for my best friend (and younger sister) Sherry. Sherry is 42 years old and was diagnosed with invasive ductal cell carcinoma in November of 2020. She is a single mom of 3 wonderful children. Her care team gave her the option of a lumpectomy or a mastectomy. We have a strong family history of breast cancer so she decided to have a double mastectomy. It's a good thing she did because in the pathology report they found an additional cancer in the same breast and a suspicious looking lump in the other one. Once the surgery was completed she was scheduled to start chemotherapy and hormone therapy to follow.

The initial surgery went well. However, almost everything after that first surgery went terribly wrong. She battled several infections, which lead to additional surgeries. She also had several allergic reactions to her medication including her Chemo! Setback after setback, she kept a smile on her face and an amazingly positive outlook. She is still battling an infection at one of the surgical sites 9 months later. She hoped to have reconstructive surgery shortly after the mastectomy but has decided that she needs to focusing on healing and getting back to work.

Her medical bills are overwhelming. She pays as much as she can each month but has hardly put a dent into the total. I am hoping this will help her feel less stressed about finances and allow her to focus on the future with a fresh start!

We are thankful for all of the support she has been given already and hope to continue that support through this fundraiser. Any amount you are willing to contribute makes a difference.
