Alfie's Heart Journey
Donation protected
Alfie was admitted to Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin at the beginning of April this year to under go treatment for heart failure caused by Viral Myocarditis.
Alfie was in Crumlin for 3 weeks on life support. The decision was made to transfer him to Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, for specialist cardiac treatment.
Alfie's treatment plan led to him having a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) implanted and he will now remain at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle indefinitely while he awaits a Cardiac (Heart) transplant.
Alfie is a happy, active little boy who loves tractors and playing outside in the sandpit. Before Alfie got sick he was in perfect health and would spend his day running around after his two older sisters Eileen & Elizabeth.
Due to the nature of Alfie's treatment plan, his parents Kenneth & Johanna Hearne are travelling over and back to Newcastle, but now need to relocate the family there indefinitely.
Your support will help the family to cover their expenses for as long as Alfie is located in Newcastle.
