Lindsay’s Multipurpose Service Dog Fund

Hi everyone! My name is Lindsay Murray and I suffer from several disabilities and chronic illness' including but not limited to my POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) which causes fainting + a slew of difficult issues, hEDS (Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) which causes unstable painful joints and pain when standing/walking/living, and seizures due to my Epilepsy. I graduated from Towson University with my Bachelors degree in mass communications. I have been on a waitlist for a year and a half to get a medical alert + response, mobility service dog and I have finally been matched with my boy. This dog will be a multipurpose animal to help me with my POTS, EDS, and Seizures so that I can become more stable and independent in my adult life. Having a service dog that can monitor my breathing, heart rate, and bp can help to prevent my syncope episodes, or help to lessen the severity of them, therefore allowing me to stay more safe and stable overall. Most days I experience nausea, fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, headaches, and I am very orthostatic intolerant meaning I can’t stand for very long without experiencing tachycardia. He will be trained to alert me to high hr's and perform DPT - deep pressure therapy to help with the episode. He will also be trained in mobility and medical response to my fainting and seizures. He will be able to pick up dropped items so I don't have to bend over and risk fainting, provide stability, forward momentum and more! Unfortunately the years of 2020 and 2021, I have spent a lot of my time in hospitals due to the seizures and severe gastrointestinal issues (Gastroparesis making me need a g-tube + picc line, being tpn dependent for a year and a half). It has been difficult to deal with the lack of freedom that comes with living with several disabilities. I am certain that this man is going to improve my quality of life drastically and start to give me the step up in my medical care that I need. Though there is no cure for POTS or hEDS or any of my gi issues including my Gastroparesis which effects my ability to eat. This service dog is going to be able to help me with my day to day tasks and with my medical episodes as a full time working individual. Any donation to help pay for the remaining 7,000 of my dog is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for helping me along on my journey to getting a service dog and gaining back some of my independence!
