Hello! I am Jocelyn, one of Geoff’s sisters. I am setting up this Gofund me page in hopes to lighten the financial burden for Geoff, so he can focus on getting the treatment he needs. On Nov 5/20, Geoff was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. ACC is considered a salivary gland cancer. Geoff’s Tumor is in his Maxillary sinus, just under his right eye and is traveling along a nerve to his brain. Geoff is scheduled for an MRI in a couple days to give more information on what his treatment will look like. In many hours of research we have come across the most ideal treatment for Geoff called, Carbon Ion Radiotherapy. This type of therapy is not offered in Canada or the USA. It is offered in Germany, Italy and Japan. Carbon Ion Radiotherapy is not covered by medical and will cost Geoff and his family 100k. In the meantime, waiting for funds to be available for Geoff to travel to Germany to receive Carbon Ion Radiotherapy, he will be doing intergrative therapies which again will be out of pocket expenses. First hand, I know how cancer can affect a family, as my son, Geoff’s nephew just beat Leukemia in July 2020, with 27 months of chemotherapy and the support of many people.
