McDaniel Family Flood Fund
Donation protected
On the evening of Friday, May 27th, my mother and stepfather, Richard and Carolyn McDaniel (pictured here with some of their grandkids), experienced a devestating flood in Magnolia, TX just north of Houston. That evening they lost most of their material possessions-- 8 inches of water flooded into their one story home, 2 to 3 feet flooded their garage and guest room, and at its deepest the flood reached 4.5 feet across their driveway. After being rescued by boat by the local police department, we are grateful for their saftey.

Now the rebuilding begins, and we hope you will be a part of blessing them generously.

They did not have flood insurance, and we know that the damage will reach into the tens of thousands. Despite financial support from within our family, we know that we will need more resources to enable them to move back into their home. We are currently tearing out all of the wet drywall, buckled floors, and damaged cabinets along with the water-logged upholstered furniture and appliances.
Though some needs have already been met (i.e. volunteers helping with demolition and cleanup, funds for a dumpster, storage, and dehumidifiers, car, and temporary housing), other immediate needs include funds for appliances, additional storage, and inspections of the home. Longer term needs include funding for materials and contractors to install new flooring, drywall, cabinets, and replace furnishings.
Work is actively happening (demolition and cleanup), and we will soon be receiving bids from contractors on the restoration. I will update this post as we receive more details on the full cost of the restoration.
Any financial help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
(Note: We are also awaiting and hoping for a declaration of an official disaster by the President which will provide some FEMA funding. As soon as we know more about assistance from FEMA, I will update this post and the fundraising goal. I will also update with pictures as soon as I'm able to upload them.)
