Gypsy is my baby girl, all 80 pounds of her. She needs expensive medical treatment and I won't let her down. I'm asking for help.
This has not been an easy couple of years for me and Gypsy has been by my side, looking at me with those eyes when I need love, smiling when I need joy, walking with me when I need a break, lounging in and around the pool because she's a lab that doesn't like to swim, but is drawn to the water. She keeps me sane when my world is collapsing.
Today that all changed. She wasn't acting herself, didn't want to go for walks, eating only if I hand fed her or put the bowl under her nose. I thought it was her back flairing up. The reality was she was bleeding into her abdomen and the suspected cause was a cancerous mass that had ruptured. I couldn't breathe. My vet, whom I trust completely, said we needed a surgerical biopsy to find out how far the cancer spread and what type it was so we could treat her. The bleeding seemed to be stemmed for now but we needed to find out where it came from.
The surgical hospital all but told me the surgery was going to be very expensive, she may die on the table, the blood in her abdomen was extensive (it started bleeding again from the morning) and the prognosis was dismal. They basically were telling me to put my dog to sleep. I can't do that; not without treatment! She is joyful, alive, her heart is strong, her lungs clear, she loves life and every creature on it. (She plays hide and seek with the lizards and the squirrels.) Giving up on her is not an option and my vet agreed. Gypsy had the surgery and is in recovery right now. The surgery revealed the bleeding was caused by a ruptured mass on the spleen which was removed. The liver is compromised with cancerous modules but my vet is confident with chemo she can be well. I have to give my baby girl every chance.
I am a single mom, with a son who has experienced painful challenges these past few years. Gypsy is my guardian angel and my solice during this time. I have spent my life savings helping my son fight his demons leaving nothing to fall back on. Gypsy's bills will be well over the $10,000 I seek, realistically closer to $12,600. Please help me get Gypsy the treatment she needs. Everyone who meets her, even the hospital staff, say what a sweet dog she is. She deserves this chance to get better.
They tell you to express how thankful you will be if people help you. There aren't words to express that volume of gratitude.
