Hello, my name is Terry Dickert.
My wife, Kim, and I are asking for help during a trying time of transition. We both lost our school positions when our governor shut down our schools. I was in training as a school bus driver but never was certified before the schools were closed down. Kim couldn't go back to school because of her health conditions (like asthma and stroke risk--she's had a few TIA's) and age which put her at high risk for acquiring Covid-19. We are currently searching for work-from-home jobs.
I was a long-haul commercial driver for almost 26 years, the last 14 years with the same company. This came to an end in December 2018 due to some health issues. Since leaving the road I have had little success in securing a new career.
Kim's sister has moved their 89-old dad in with her to manage his care. She is a nurse and he has Parkinson's disease which has progressed to stage 5 in September requiring extensive care. He has also acquired dementia and must have constant supervision. So, this would have left Kim's mother (age 84) alone so we accepted the privilege and moved her in with us to help with the loneliness and grief of seeing her husband of 62 years slip away. She gets to spend a few hours a day with him, at least.
With all of the stress of bills, unemployment, and massive life changes it has exhausted our resources and we are in a very desperate financial situation.
We need your help.
It is humbling and embarrassing for me to ask for help. Kim has reminded me that we are to ask one another for help according to God's Word. I have always been a very independent person; Kim calls it stubborn and hardheaded, but we are at the end of our rope. We are in danger of losing our home of 14 years this spring and are struggling with even the basics now.
Anything you can spare would be immensely appreciated just to get us through this winter. I'm praying the new year will bring an open door or window for us to get back on our feet.
Thank you ever so much in advance for your much-needed help. Your prayers are very welcome.
God bless each and every one of you.
