Help our Neighbor

In May of 2020 our dear friend and neighbor, 83 year old Alma Doller, had a severe stroke. This brain injury has left her with significant paralysis, leaving her bedridden with minimal speech, difficult eating capabilities, immobile, unable to take care of her personal hygiene, and requiring full nursing care. She has been in a rehabilitation facility for the last month and due to insurance demands she is being released to her home. The medical outlook for recovery is poor and the long term prognosis is  unknown at this time.  What is equally so sad and of great concern is that her husband, Alton, is the sole caregiver at home. He is 82 years old and is not in good enough health to take on this huge challenge. Insurance support is very limited, as is common in these sad long term medical disasters. The financial demands created by the need for full nursing care and future possible inpatient demands finds the situation very difficult. It will surely place huge burdens on their situation for an unknown amount of time going forth. These beautiful people have always been filled with joy and service to our neighborhood and community. Both of them are endlessly kind and giving. Thus our collective hearts in our neighborhood are trying to find some relief for this family. As neighbors we are giving of our time, money and service, but it will not be enough. It is clear that their situation will surely bring a heavy burden on these people medically, emotionally and financially. They need help!

We are asking for anyone who is able, and whose hearts are touched by this heavy burden, to give as generously as possible to help relieve some level of this weight on their lives. We assure you that all funds will go towards the medical needs and support that Alma will require for possibly many years to come. Tears came to her loving husband when we asked permission to initiate a GoFundMe site. He humbly thanked us for the effort so many have taken to help his deep concern over their future. But it is clear that he is scared because of the unknown in the near future. Maybe we can help in some small way. 

Thanks for your compassion and charity. It is one of the great gifts of life to watch others lift and comfort the downtrodden.
