On July 23rd, 2020, my younger brother Christopher Rey Contreras was murdered in cold blood by a complete stranger while he was defending a friend. My brother was defenseless and had no weapon of any kind. Due to the lack of proper investigation from the local sheriff's department, the criminals who murdered my brother walk free today. In addition to their freedom, my brother’s case has been dismissed. My brother was only 27 years old when his life was taken from him, with an unborn son on the way. His son will never meet his father.

 

While my brother was no angel and although he made many mistakes in his life, the day that Christopher was murdered, he was one day shy of being two entire years sober and clean. Christopher decided to get his life straight in order to have a future that he could be proud of and that would make others proud, and unfortunately that future was stolen from him. Before his murder, Christopher became a responsible, productive, and law abiding citizen. Christopher looked towards his future with intentions of making the right choices, raising his son, and being the father he never had.

 

My brother deserves justice. My immediate family has worked hard to put away every extra dime and dollar to be able to afford an attorney, but we are, to put it simply, a middle class family struggling to even make ends meet. With that being said, we have only been able to save up half of the legal fees for my brother’s case. We cannot afford to fight this battle alone.

 

Update:

As some may know we are still fighting to get Justice for my little brother. The Justice System has done everything that they could possibly do to make this harder on us. For example we have still yet to get his autopsy report because the Prosecuting Attorney in Garland County won’t sign the paperwork needed for us to get it. After two years!

After talking to an attorney we were told that there was nothing that can be done and we would have to build our own case. So here we are back to square one.

With that being said we plan on building our own case. Step one is to continue to try to get the autopsy report and then hire a P.I! So if there is anyone who knows a good one please message me!

On December 2nd I’ll be biking from Blevins, AR to Gatlinburg, TN! Last year we were able to bring some awareness to the situation and I’m hoping that we can bring more to it this year. My family isn’t the only family who is going through something like this. I’m also doing this for Kason and Tyson as well! Just like I did last year.

My family and I will share the GoFund me that I’ve set up to help with the legal expenses, but honestly all I’m asking for people to do is share this. They think we’ve given up. They have tried to silence us. But they don’t know me or my family. We will continue to fight until something gets done. I’ll keep applying pressure until I take my last breath!
